Online Safety
Every half term, our Computing Lead delivers an Online Safety assembly, explaining and demonstrating how to stay safe and behave appropriately online. Before every new topic of Computing, children are reminded how to use the internet and equipment responsibly and safely.
Jessie and Friends
At The Ferrars Academy, we teach how to use the Online Safety programme- ‘Jessie and Friends’. The children are taught to click on Jessie’s safety icon which is at the bottom of their screens, ready to click on if they see something they do not like or makes them feel worried, scared or sad.
You can explore Online Safety with Jessie and Friends and meet the other characters for free from: https://www.thinkuknow.co.uk/
Your child will need a grown up to play with them and help them collect badges as they learn.
We can be successful in keeping children safe online if we work together to ensure the Online Safety message is consistent: Tell A Grown up. Speaking to your child about how they can keep safe and behave appropriately online will teach them to become responsible online citizens and allow them to flourish in the digital world.
